Gommage products contain one of several enzymes that have proteolytic effects on dead skin cells. Proteolytic simply means they break down the proteins that make up these cells so that they can easily be removed.
The enzymes found in gommage products are extracted from plant sources.
- Papain. Papain is an enzyme extracted from the papaya plant.
- Bromelain. Bromelain is extracted from the stem, fruit, and juice of pineapples.
Gommage exfoliants also contain sticky ingredients like xanthan gum or paraffin that mechanically exfoliate your skin by pulling away dead skin cells when the product is removed from your skin.
Use this gommage peel after Dermaplaning to polish and buff the skin until skin glows. It is mild and non-irritating. Massage into the skin for 2 – 3 minutes until you feel the skin beading up under your fingers, then rinse off. The formula absorbs and removes sebum and impurities while delivering moisture. It contains fruit extracts, essential oils, ceramides, panthenol, and purslane extract to soothe, nourish, and protect the skin.
